Frequently Asked Questions – British Library Labs Awards Competition 2015

Can I submit my entry in more than one category?

You are entitled to submit your entry in more than one of the categories, Research, Creative and Entrepreneurship if you feel that it fits.

What is the prize for the competition?

The winner of each category will receive £500.

Is it possible to win in more than one category?


What if I have plagiarised the entry I submit for the Awards Competition?

You are responsible for the authenticity and originality of your entry. If we discover your entry has been plagiarised, you will be disqualified from the Awards Competition.

What digital collections can I reference in the Awards Competition?

The award requires that you use at least one British Library digital collection / item in your entry, you can include as many as you like.

What other digital collections that aren't from the British Library can I use?

You are welcome to reference other digital collections that aren't from the British Library in your entry. However, please remember that the purpose of the BL Labs Awards Competition are to highlight use of British Library Digital content / data.

How will my entry be assessed?

Your entry will be judged through the process outlined on the judging page. The judging panel will use the assessment criteria listed there to help them decide on the winning entries.

Any tips on submitting my entry?

What if I want to resubmit my entry?

If you make a mistake or want to add something to your entry, you can resubmit as many times as you want before the submission deadline date, Monday 14th September 2015 (midnight BST). After this date you cannot submit further entries for the 2015 Awards Competition.

Can I submit more than one entry?

Yes, you are allowed to submit as many entries as you like.

How old do I have to be to enter the awards?

You need to be over 18 to enter the awards, please read the terms and conditions.

I don't have time to enter the awards this year, will there be awards next year?

We intend to run Labs' Awards in 2016, please visit the Labs website for future announcements.
